Salmon Farfalle Carbonara

*** SUPER LATE POST *** ✌️✌️✌️

07.Dec.13

Last week, I went to the grocery store to buy a few things we needed at home. On top of that is our daily food meals (includes fish, vegetables, condiments, rice, etc.).
While browsing around, it came to my mind to venture something new dish. Though not really ‘new’ for us and everyone, but for me, it’ll be something different and new in the kitchen. I tried cooking pastas in different versions and sauces but not yet with this..

So… I made up my mind to cook 'Salmon Farfalle Carbonara’. :)

This will be the very 1st time in my entire life in cooking to share a piece of my own venture with you (please bear with me.. Hehe).

So this is how it goes -

Ingredients:
250g pack of Farfalle
120g salmon (sliced into chunks)
1-2 small packets of Carbonara sauce
1 small can of Carbonara mushroom sauce (optional)
1 fresh egg (beaten)
1/2 onion (sliced)
3 leaves of mint (finely sliced)
1/4 cup of green peas (fresh / frozen)
Salt and pepper

 Method:
* Bring a large pot of salted water to boil and cook farfalle according to packing instructions.
* Meanwhile, bring a pan to heat and sizzle onions for a minute and add in the salmon until cooked.
* Lightly heat up the sauce in a shallow pan for 3-5 minutes. Do this with constant stirring or you don’t want the sauce to burn.
* In a small bowl, beat egg and add in salt and pepper, leave it aside.
* When the farfalle is nearly cooked, add the peas for another 1-2 minutes.
* When cooked, drain and reserve a small amount of the farfalle water (pasta broth).
* Place the farfalle to a large plate or shallow bowl, add and toss the egg mixture while it is hot. The heat of the pasta will allow the egg to cook.
* Next, add and toss the cooked salmon, sliced mint and sauce together until well combined. You can add few spoonful of the farfalle water if necessary.
* Serve immediately.

That’s how easy it is! ^^
And guess what, my husband loved it! Yay! I’m so happy and proud! It’s never dull and difficult to give it a try!
Venture, experiment, create and enjoy! :)

Here’s an advice: Put your whole heart and love to it and it’ll surely comes out delicious!

I hope you’ll get a try at your home too and let me know what you think.
Enjoy and bon appetit! ;)

Late post - FOLLOW UP

As I was checking online, it reminded me that I haven't got to update my personal blogs these recent days (yes, 'blogs' because I own 2 personal blogs). Somehow, they're currently on the same page except that it was, uhm, 2 months ago (oh no!). I know I have a lot of things to say then... So, let's start!

First, let's go back from January 2014, to which I recalled, t'was also the month of the Feast Day of Sr. Sto. Nino de Cebu in Cebu City, Philippines. Every 3rd Sunday of the month, we celebrate the feast day of the holy child of Jesus. For the first time in 27 years of my existence, I missed to celebrate it this year back home. Reason is, I'm out of the country and unfortunately, I can't go home. So, what I did, good thing there's this live streaming of the novena masses to the grand parade (thank God for that!) and gladly, I completed the 9-day novena and watched the whole day performances of the contingents on-stage and also the street dancing. I may have missed it personally, but I thank God for the new technology these days that I get to watch and celebrate online. It may seem really 'incomplete' for me knowing that I grew up with it, yet still grateful for the ways that God provided me and for the rest of the people who wished to witness it.
Viva! Pit Senyor! Viva, Sr. Sto. Nino! #love

Before the month of January to completely passed by, we got the chance to go home. (yay!) Celebrating Gong Xi Fa Cai in the Philippines! Me and my husband flew first to Manila and stayed for 2 days, then we flew to Cebu and stayed for the whole week. I am so happy and excited to see everyone especially my family. We got the chance to dine out together and meet with friends; also, we were able to join our relatives for a lunch date by invitation despite our tight schedules; my husband successfully completed his dental appointments with our family dentist and happily, we got to do most of the things that we need to do every time we go home. We also squeezed into our schedule our trip to & from Leyte (my husband's hometown) and stayed for a day. We are so thankful and grateful for this long week vacation back home. Thank you Lord!

So, we're now on the month of love - February! And we're back to work mode away from home. And Valentines preparation is everywhere. So many color red and love balloons and flowers, everywhere. Love songs here and there. What do you expect. Happy Valentines Day!
This year of V-day is our 1st Valentines celebration as a married couple. I was so excited to discover my husband's plans or surprises or whatever ideas he has in store for me, and to my 'no-surprise' cos I knew it - no flowers, no chocolates, no surprises for me. Except, an early 12am greeting, a sweet kiss and a tight hug from him is what I received that day. Sweet and simple and humble, as what he is.
As I was acting like a child 'coz I didn't get any flowers or chocolates from him (haha! Nagtampo si misis), and he was so busy that week due to work demands and meetings. He asked me the next day for a post-Valentines dinner date. Awww...

I giggly accepted his invitation. And we booked a table for 2 to a dinner buffet at one of the restaurants in Marina Bay Sands. After our dinner, we watched a movie - Robocop with popcorn and drinks (yay!) hahaha... and so, we ended a very sweet, fun-filled, food overload, sexy and romantic night together. And my 'tampo' mode is done! Thank you to my loving and understanding husband.

Happy to share with you a sample of our photos during post-Valentines date.

Thank you for taking your time in reading this summed-up-late-blog-post. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.

xoxo

If you can reach out to help, do it!

November 16, 2013 - was our 12th year anniversary as bf/gf! ^^ Though we tied the knot last February this year, I still value and treasure the date. Of course, i still honour it when I said 'yes!' to this man who made ligaw 12yrs. ago! hahaha ^^

I remember weeks before the date, I asked Dy what his plans are and he mentioned random things, ang ending, wala'y plano. In my mind, I decided to cook good foods, buy ice cream and watch movies at home since it's a weekend (though we watch home movies every weekend). Simple and humble celebration - at least.

Not knowing, all these plans will never be materialised not for nothing or whatever but for a good reason afterall. We left Singapore for Cebu to Leyte without bringing any stuffs for ourselves (except our important docs.), all our luggages are relief goods. It happened so fast! We ended up not having enough sleep, not getting time to relax and unwind knowing that it's our day to celebrate..everyday, we're always on the go.
For the fact of being able to help and see their smiles is worth all of it. Instead of spending money to dine out and/or buy good foods or ice cream; we spent and added it for the relief goods.. Trust me, it can never be compared to the smiles that you see.. every repeated thank you's that you heard, their feeling of ease that somehow, someone out there is available to assist them in this trying times and being able to feel delighted at the same time; it's indescribable.

Bottom line, celebrating our anniversary together with the people in need is extraordinarily worthwhile & rewarding. ^_^

Thank you Lord! :)
